Why is diboren called electron deficent molecule ?

In a molecules of diboren, there is not enough vacance electron to form the expected number of normal covalent bond between all atoms. Since, B-atom has three electrons in outermost shell, it can link with three hydrogen atoms, thus while each of the B-atom in diborane can itself to three H-atoms and there are no electron to form bond between two B-atoms. Hence, it was clear that B2H6 contain 12 valance electrons and its 12 valance electrons are insufficient for ethane like (H3B-BH3) Structure which has seven bonds and would require to 14 electrons
Hence, B2H6 is called electron deficent Compound.
